What is BigGameLogic.Com?

Big Game Logic (BGL) initially started as an interactive deer tracking application that enhanced the traditional scouting process and increased the chances of securing that dream buck. But in early 2019, the application lost steam and the brand pivoted toward being a complete resource for hunting and fishing enthusiasts. In 2022, BGL has started its transition towards being a complete resource for all big game species on all continents.

Nowadays, our team focuses on delivering top-notch resources so visitors are confident their next hunting or fishing trip will be a success. Our diverse content library covers topics ranging from archery and hunting to fishing and other related gear.

Why You Should Trust Us

Look, we aren’t here to twist your arm and tell you we are the only resource online that’s delivering high-quality content.

What we can tell you is, our team puts in the hours to ensure what you’re reading is not only up to our stringent quality standards but also that it looks great and provides additional resources such as images and links to enhance your experience after it’s published. We review content on a semi or quarterly-basis to spot any inaccuracies or opportunities for improvement.

On top of that, we regularly work with industry experts and consultants to get their opinion on specific topics.

Removing bias from time to time and getting a second set of eyes on a piece of content has been something we’ve found works. It’s great to get feedback from folks who are “passioneers” like us.

Meet Our Team

None of this would be possible without a reliable team. We proudly recognize these members of our team, just a few of the folks behind Big Game Logic. Disclaimer -- this isn’t the entire team. Some people wished to remain anonymous, which we respect.

“Hey there, I’m Caleb. We took over Big Game Logic in late 2022 during a pivot and have been steering the ship toward being a leader in the hunting and fishing space. I have been an avid outdoors lover since I was a child. Please let me share the joy of the outdoors with you.”

Caleb  //  Owner

“Hi, I’m Patty, Big Game Logic’s lead editor. I have been here since the ‘application days’ and had the privilege of helping with the transition toward being a content-based resource. Jeff and I worked day in and day out to get things up and running, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love what we do and the sense of community this site brings to folks.”

Patty  //  Editor

“Hey, I’m Steven. I’ve been working with the team at Big Game Logic since mid-2019 and primarily focus on branding and design. Aside from work, I love to golf (weather permitting), lounge around with my wife and basset hound, Hank, and go on runs around town.”

Steven  //  Brand Manager

“Hi, I’m Amy. I joined the Big Game Logic team as a part-time writer in January 2020 and transitioned into a full-time position several months later. I spent the first part of my career working alongside the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, but since becoming a mother of two, my life has revolved around my little ones. When I’m not working, you can usually find me on the couch with a book or outside in my garden.”

Amy  //  Writer

“Hey, Chris here. I joined the team soon after Amy and have loved it since. Most of my life has been spent freelance writing in the hunting and outdoor space, focusing on deer hunting. Big Game Logic fell into my lap, and I love the wide range of topics I get to cover. My hobbies include hiking, camping, and snowboarding (when I can).”

Chris  //  Writer

“Hi, I’m Kelli! After the COVID-19 pandemic turned the world upside-down, I was looking for a way to keep myself busy and work from home. My husband was a fan of Big Game Logic and recommended I reach out after he had noticed an old ‘we’re hiring’ ad. My background in archery landed me a part-time gig that eventually turned into a full-time position. When I’m not writing, I’m likely outside playing with my three dogs, Sam, Bernard, and Gunner, or binging Netflix.”

Kelli  //  Writer

“Hey, I’m Dan. For the past decade or so, I’ve had my own fishing guide business, and I stumbled upon Big Game Logic one afternoon while looking for some rods. My experience as a guide lent itself perfectly to freelance writing in my downtime, so I contacted Jeff. It was perfect timing for my sake as they needed someone to spearhead their fishing content at the time (pun intended).”

How Does This All Work?

Great question! There are so many moving parts that it sometimes seems like magic after everything falls in place.

We start by researching what topics people are curious about, then focus on publishing a complete resource that covers the ins-and-outs of those topics.

Content generally comes in two forms: buyer’s guides or informative write-ups. Once we have the puzzle laid out, we start piecing it together.

How Are Products Chosen?

For each buyer’s guide, our goal is to round-up the year’s best products (at the time of publication) and rank them accordingly so readers can quickly identify the make-it-or-break-it parts of a piece of gear.

When it comes to choosing products, we go about it in a few different ways. We’ll either: consult an expert directly or research consumer reviews, forums, and other direct feedback methods, such as YouTube.

Who Writes Content?

Thankfully, we have a great team of passionate writers behind Big Game Logic. Some of our writers wish to remain anonymous for personal reasons, but you can learn about a few above.

How Does Big Game Logic Make Money?

To keep the wheels turning and the site up and running, BGL makes money two ways: affiliate referrals and via ads.

What Does That Mean?

That means when you click-through to a supplier such as Amazon or Optics Planet and make a purchase, we receive a commission based on referring the sale. That’s why it’s critical that our team chooses products correctly and does their homework because when you return items, we lose money.

Do We Get Paid to Review Products?

No, but team members have received free products in the past as a result of writing reviews. If this is of interest to you and you feel like you’re a confident writer, drop us a line through our work with us page.

Do Brands Pay Us For Better Rankings?

No, that would kind of defeat the purpose of having an authentic criterion for ranking products. Our team is a little more ethically balanced than that.
