The Horton Vision 175 Crossbow packs the features every crossbow hunter expects into a compact, lightweight design. Riley Foster of Horton Archery gave Foremosthunting.com’s Tyler Hinner an inside look at the Vision 175 at the 2011 Archery Trade Association Show in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The first thing you will notice with the Vision 175 is it’s unique, reverse draw limbs. In other words, it looks like it’s backwards. This design feature provides several advantages not found in conventional crossbows. The limbs are attached at the center of the bow giving the bow a more balanced feel compared to the front heavy design of most crossbows. The reverse limbs also cut down on vibration since there is less travel when fired. This makes the Vision 175 whisper quiet when fired. The advantage hunters will notice the most is the compact size. When cocked, it is less than ten inches axle to axle.
The Vision 175 fires a typical crossbow bolt just over 300 feet per second. The draw weight is 175 pounds. As a testament to it’s incredible accuracy, Horton Archery’s Matt Miller won the 2010 IBO Indoor Championship with the Vision 175.
