Pros

There are several good points about this unit. Before you go ahead and buy it, make sure to take a look at the benefits it has to offer. Some positive points of this unit are given below.

Lightweight

It is easy to carry and move around with because it is very light. This is because it is made of aluminum. The overall weight of this unit, even after the fiberglass compression, is only 6.25 pounds. That’s relatively light in comparison to a lot of the bows on the market that offer similar features.

Highly Accurate

The accuracy rate of this unit is quite high. This product is put through strict testing and trial runs before it reaches its customers. From 20 yards, it can maintain half-inch groupings on a bad day and quarter-inch groupings on a good day.

At 40 yards, it can hit the bulls-eye every time and keep a three-quarter-inch grouping. From 60 yards, the grouping is about an inch in diameter. It is powerful enough to drive the arrows smoothly through the target.

Ambidextrous

It is not only light, accurate, and of good quality, but it has also been constructed in a way that makes it easy to use by both left and right-handed people. It has a fully ambidextrous design, with an ambidextrous safety feature that makes it user-friendly.

Easy to Assemble

Buyers of this unit no longer have to be worried about assembling a crossbow. It is really easy to put together this bow, as most of the users have said it took them a maximum of 15 minutes to assemble the whole thing. The manual that comes with it has detailed instructions, and they even have an excellent video tutorial on YouTube, which makes it easy to understand which part goes where.

Cons

Let’s not forget to consider that like all products; this bow also has its downsides. The negative aspects of this product are listed below:

Short Warranty Period

Sadly, this unit only has a limited warranty backing it up. The warranty is limited, meaning that it only covers a few conditions and parts of the whole crossbow. This also only lasts for only one year, which can be pretty disappointing too.

However, there have been very little complaints about this bow breaking or malfunctioning. Most buyers have been able to use it for a long time with proper maintenance and care.

Poor Quality Arrows

The arrows that come with this bow are quite poor in quality. Understandably, the company’s primary focus is the bow’s quality, but the quality of arrows can actually make or break your experience. It is recommended that users just buy their own preferred set of arrows from 16 to 20 inches in length.

How to Assemble the SA Sports Ambush Crossbow

It is really easy to assemble this crossbow. But to help you even further, we have provided detailed step-by-step instructions for you to follow.

  1. Take out the instruction manual from the package. It has both illustrated and written instructions.
  2. Find and identify all the individual components of the bow.
  3. Inspect the main body of the bow for damage. Do the same thing for all other essential parts and accessories of the unit.
  4. The tools required for the assembly are already in the package. The only tool you will need to arrange for yourself is a Phillips screwdriver.
  5. Take your cable slide and attach it to the cables on the crossbow limb with the concave area facing upwards and the cables in the two grooves on the back.
  6. Connect the barrel and the riser by inserting the cable slide between the barrel opening. Make sure that the concave side is facing up to match the contour inside of the barrel.
  7. When the cables are positioned between the barrel, position the riser, and connect it gently with the barrel. Make sure that they are completely seated together.
  8. Place the nose bolt in the center hole on the front of the riser. Make sure the split washer goes on the nose bolt first, then the solid washer. Once the washers are set, the nose bolt should be securely tightened into the center hole with the hex keys.
  9. Insert the foot stirrup into the two holes on the front of the riser. Make sure the two notches in the stirrup face the foot stirrup grub screws. Using those, tighten it securely. Keep in mind that if it is not tightened securely, injuries can occur to the user.
  10. Attach the quick detach piece of the quiver on to the main quiver body. This is the step for which you will need the Phillips screwdriver.
  11. Connect the quiver mount to the bottom of the bow and then tighten both of the Allen screws securely.
  12. Then attach the quiver to the bow by sliding the quiver into the mounting bracket and flipping the lever to lock the quiver into place. Add the arrows into the quiver to complete the setup.
  13. Now locate the scope, loosen the locking bolt screws, and position the clamps on to the weaver style base on the crossbow. Tighten them securely after the scope is aligned.
  14. With the scope rings still loose, look through the scope, and make sure the crosshairs are leveled with the limbs of your crossbow. This should be done on a flat surface so that it can be tightened when flat.
